"Well I stand up next to a mountain - chop it down with the edge of my hand"

Jimi Hendrix - 1968

By Dave Franzwa © 2004

OK. This seriously looks like Franzwa's gone off the deep end... again!

Nope!

Just feelin' my oats and felt like sharing one of the power phrases that I often use when facing a challenge.

And that little phrase by Jimi has helped me gather my guts on numerous occations when I needed a little something extra to give me a nudge down one of those dark alleys of my mind.

You know the kind I'm talking about.  They loom up in front of you like some gargantuan problem that you think you're nowhere near equipped for, trying to intimidate you with thier sheer size?

Well, I have news for those mountains.  As long as I have a power phrase to hang on to, and a tune in my heart, there's no mountain I can't get over, around, or through!

Have you ever whistled in the dark for comfort?  Using my power phrases is along those same lines, only it's pre-meditated.

As I said, I've got several power phrases that I use, each one a little different depending upon the occasion, and they help me punch through whatever obstacle I'm up against.  All I have to do is keep my eyes on the light at the end of the tunnel.

When you've got a few moments, I'd like to encourage you to write out a few power phrases of your own.  Or you can use some of mine.  Most if them (although not all) are phrases I borrowed anyway.

Power phrases like Jimi's above, or another of my favorites is "break on through to the other side" that I thank Jim Morrison for.  Or how about "He who is in me is greater than he who is in the world."  Thank you, Jesus, for that one.

"Sticks and stones can break my bones..." has never been on my list of power phrases because I'm thoroughly convinced that words not only *can* hurt you, but *do* if you're not on your guard.

Whatever power phrases you choose to identify with and use, throw some music behind it.  That will amplify and supercharge the effect.

Try this one on for size:

"Listening to you, I hear the music - gazing at you, I get the heat..."  ~ Pete Townsend - The Who - 1969 ~

Man, I think I just preached myself happy again!

Stay in tune - Dave
